If You and I were Having Coffee continued

coffee cup

If you and I were having coffee, I would tell you the story of why I became obsessed with sunflowers this summer.  I grew these ENORMOUS plants with strong stalks and deep roots from tiny seeds. The best part was when I left for my Trip Across America, they were not very big.  When I got home, they had gone over the roof of my solarium,  Honestly, I gasped out loud, and oh, what a reverence i held for their beauty.

Next, I would tell you, that every day since that day I have watched these beauties, I began seeing them as metaphors for life and began studying all their unique facets, not book knowledge, but detail knowledge.  Sunflowers caused me to pause and to look closer and to ponder.

Here’s one way you can live as a sunflower.  Sunflowers live LARGE and MAGNIFICENCE with no apology.  They are uniquely themselves in all their glory.  In a way, they are spiritual, always seeking their source, their energy, their vitality, the sun.  Even as they die, they die with grace and ever seeking the sun.

If you and I were having coffee, I would tell you that I feel so incredibly blessed for our friendship.  I know that you are the kind of friend that I could lose touch with for 30 years, and talk with you, and it would feel as if we had spoken yesterday.  I could tell you anything.  If I faltered and misspoke or made a mistake, you would know I was human and hold me in Divine love like the word “Namaste.”     And I KNOW you know I’d treat you the same.

If you and I were having coffee.  I would be fully present and devour every moment for I find you extremely amusing and truly cherish our friendship.  We could tell each other dreams of peace and a better world, and because our space became enlightened and sacred, the world began to shift.

If you and I were having coffee, it would be a most glorious day.

May you have a most blessed weekend my friends.   Here is a Throwback Thursday of a poem with Michael at Poetry Channel – If You and I were Having Coffee

Namaste,

Marie

Goodbye my Friend

Winds of change are whisking through, bringing cool, crisp winds in exchange for my  energy, my vitality. I’m no longer dining on carefree air , enjoying the loves of my life.

Trees and plants are dropping their greens in exchange for vibrant oranges and reds.  This too, I love…but it also signals  the approach of the bitterness of another cycle of stinging cold,  shunned warmth, like the arms of a lost lover

I will miss my friend…my beloved summer, its freedom coursing my veins. I have not many visits left.

Oh please, dear one, can you linger a little longer?

20150820_122446_resized 20150820_114147_resized  so incredibly cool up close!20150820_113359_resized  This is the first time I planted sunflowers.  And while I LOVE them, they took over my whole garden…what majesty…what pure embodiment of summer.

If We Were Having Coffee

coffee cup

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have enjoyed every minute I’ve spent with you learning about your world, no matter where it may be.  Showing me what you see through your eyes and experiencing life through your lens is inspiring and curious to me.  Seeing your pictures of flowers and nature and people engaged in life nurtures my soul  Thank you for being you and being your contribution.  And then I’d ask, what will you do today to LIVE OUT LOUD?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I loved the movie “Begin Again.” And though I don’t care for senseless use of certain words, the story was full of poetic moments like the romantic relationship & even the breaking up and hardships because it was the human experience in all its glory..and it is romantic, and the music adds an element of magic because it is weaved so well into the story.  My husband, who isn’t usually a fan of music in movies or musicals, really liked the movie.  (Not just a little bit)  AND, he wanted to buy the soundtrack because Kiera Knightly did such a good job.  I think that’s another reason I like the movie because Kiera Knightly and Adam Levine both pursued other passions in their lives not knowing exactly how the world would accept their attempts…they just went for it.  Kiera’s voice is amazing, and the lilt is calming and dreamy.   If you don’t want to see the movie, you might like the soundtrack a lot. Spotify lets you get just the songs you want. :0)

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that though I have to go back to school in two weeks, and I will miss my summer terribly, for I do love my sunshine and my time to create and to just be. But that I’m always excited for new little discoveries with a new group of kids.  It never ceases to amaze me what beauty I will find and the delight in observing their curiosities and inquisitiveness.  (I wasn’t really sure that was a word but I didn’t get redlined.) And I would say that I am truly blessed to have this job.  AND it’s also a blessing to know such AMAZING teachers and collaborate with them.

If we were having coffee, I might ask you what books you’ve read lately.  I’ve read more this summer than usual, but the book I enjoyed the most was “The Light Between Two Oceans” because the characters were so well developed and I was engaged with them to the end.  It really mattered to me what happened to those characters. (Now, that’s a GREAT book!) Bonus:  I got to learn about lighthouses.

If we were having coffee, I would say that it’s really, really cool that I now get to add a coffee talk tab to my categories because I LOVE coffee and friends!

I got this idea from Suzie’s blog who got it from Nerd in the Brain‘s blog, who in turn saw it on the equally fabulous Part Time Monster‘s blog, who found it somewhere else.  As Suzie said so well, the blogging community inspires me!

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL ME ABOUT?

Have a most blessed day,

Until we chat again, Marie

Gratitude and Peace and Newfound things

Today when I was walking in my house I went to pick up a piece of plastic that didn’t make it into the recycling.  I don’t know what it was the packaging for, but it had a piece of paper advertising stuck in it that said:

found art - celebrate today

perfect

And then my dear blogging friend Rhonda, had this special music that brought me such peace.  It deserves to be my meditation for awhile.  His name is   David Nevue.        Click HERE.  (The imagery is beautiful too.

And lastly, complete strangers with compassionate caring hearts dove in and shared their words, their encouragement and collective wisdom, and it was absolutely beautiful.

I am truly blessed on this first day of August.  Thanks for making the world a better place…and thanks for being you!

My Heart Searches for Your Presence

It was only Monday when you said goodbye

And today is Friday

       Four days

But it seems like eternity.

When a strong flame goes out

it’s noticed.

Where are you?

My heart searches for your presence

           Everywhere

In the air and the touch of the breeze

In a book filled with loving, soulful words,

but, they are not your words.

Where are you?

They say when a soul leaves this earth

Their energy can still be found

Yet, your soul is still bound to this earth

And I cannot find you.

Where have you been?

I cannot wait to hear of your adventures

No, they don’t have to be full of whimsical dreams

Of softness and the lilted music of your heart

There is learning in

searching the torrential depths

of one’s soul

How do you overcome?

You are stronger than you know

Beauty contained is still beauty

But it becomes spirit when it is shared

Do not doubt your power to inspire

you kindred spirit

Or to change the world.

Heart Bandaids

ur_multimedia_375453

I wish there were such a thing as
Heart Bandaids
to give you riend
one that uses the salve
of your tears
to soothe your brokenness

My silence stuns me
My words fall short
There are no words
to heal a wound so deep as a loss

Is there a special sewing kit
to stich and lace your
fond memories to your soul
so the healing
would hasten?

For now, my dear one
May time rebuild and restore
light and joy
in the beautiful you.
