Share Your World

Day #3 of my challenge (I was gone for the weekend.)

Hello!  I love hearing about your side of the world and sharing mine with you too!  This entry comes from some questions from Cee’s Photogrpahy challenge of SHARE YOUR WORLD (SYW)

idaho forest.jpgHERE ARE MY ANSWERS

What is your favorite cheese?  All cheeses are my friend!   I have some favorites, but I am still positive I haven’t found all my favorites yet.  Some great contenders are:  Havarti – great in ANY sauce or stand alone.  My brother puts it in Chicken Fried Steak and gravy.  I like Asiago in Italian dishes…and an easily accessed favorite of course is always cheddar – sharp, medium or mild.  I’m all for trying new cheese, especially while traveling!

Are you left or right handed?

I’m left handed.  Back when I grew up left handed, it was considered evil to be left handed, and I would get my hand tied behind my back.  When I ate at the dinner table, I had to eat at the end so as not to distract or interrupt anyone else.  Because I wanted to sit somewhere else, I learned to eat right handed. There were no left handed scissors, so I learned to do more precise things like cutting with scissors or a knife with my right hand.

But all sports and writing are left handed.

Do you prefer exercising your mind or your body? How frequently do you do either?

I know it’s important to exercise my body, and I enjoy it.  But I PREFER to exercise my mind!   I DEVOUR every piece of information I can get – books, video, conversations with people.

Complete this sentence: Hot days are … GREAT!  I enjoy the energy and warmth of the sun

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Having time to celebrate twenty years of marriage to my best friend.  We had alone and quiet time from the busyness of our lives.  It was awesome!

Namaste my friends,

Marie

30 Day Challenge

I am a writer, and I haven’t been writing except curriculum and proposals and not as much fun as my creative writing, so I’ve decided to give myself a 30 day challenge.   I might use prompts; I might use pictures; I might just be silly, but my goal is to do some creative writing, even if it’s a little bit.   I’m giving myself permission to write the worst Cr_ _…but at least I’m writing and getting my voice moving and working again.  I have some books to finish!

Today’s prompt is BUMBLE.   I am grateful to other sites who help a girl out.

She bumbled her way through her business

unsure and awkward

at most every move

she’d fall across the stage

displaying her awkwardness for all to see

But she had heart

and she had grit

and she knew the awkwardness

was only temporary

bumbleless is her motto now

Sunshine Faces

You came back

As promised

My heart filling

With delight

At the sightsight of you

What a sweet surprise

To gaze up at your magnificence

And see your radiant bulbous face

Staring back at me

This is going to be

A most wonderful summer

Of sunshine and splendo
While watering my sunflowers’glorious towering stocks I found this beauty peeking from the back row clamoring for my attention. What a surprise and a sweet reminder of my journey with them last year. It was my way of dealing with my dad’s death and feeling him close to me. It was also a most wonderful way to “live poetry” by watching their cycle and comparing it to my own

I live poetry challenge for you:  Watch a life cycle of something from beginning to end. It doesn’t have to be flowers or even plants..maybe butterflies or turtled or kids. Record it by drawing or writing or pictures.  It is the act of recording in some way and comparing and contrasting it to your own that keeps you present and observant…looking at things in a new way.

The World Needs – Poetry Collaboration! & 100th Post

earth-from-space-at-sunrise-hd-wallpaper-for-desktop1

Today is August 1st, new beginnings.  for a brandy new month, my 100th POST!  I was inspired with these words from a poem by Micheline,Jean Louis and she agreed to start us off!   We are going to go with the anaphora (repeating phrase) as well.  It keeps the message thriving!!!  Happy writing.

The World Needs

Compassion
Understanding
Tolerance
Integrity
And
Forgiveness, from all of us to become habitable for all walk of life.

The world needs
Love
Hope
Child-like wonder
Pure Joy
Acceptance of one another
And their humanness.

The world needs YOU!

the world needs

RESPECT

small birds
that sit in teacups
kettle drums
with occasional hiccups
friendly spiders
and long-leggity beasties
times of wonder
free and easy

the world needs computers
to aid in our building
invisible bridges
to faraway countries
sheep with their legs
one at each corner
and cows that stand up
to tell us it’s warmer

the world needs our loving
and people forgiving
laughter to flow out
in healing believing
dreams to come true
under stars safe our nights
and days where we learn
to make friends not fight

and now most of all
the world needs our time
to notice to care
when we’re doing just fine
to reach out a hand
sit on the grass
have patience to learn
ways of beetle and wasp

the world needs koalas
cute grinning from trees
fluffy-head thistles
kind old dock leaves
wolves to sing home again
in joy rain or sunny
and bear to gurr happiness
with nosefuls of honey

the world needs stories
to tell and to grow
adventurers wild
and those who stay home
in fire and earth
ocean and storm
what the world needs always
is everyone to care.

The World Needs:

Belief
Teaches my heart that All is Possible,
All is Ready Standing, Waiting upon my own Acceptance,
My own Belief, my own Unfettering Faith
To Set Free the wheels of the universe
And Create my Heart’s Desire;
Yet in this dark and weary place,
Where fear crushes dreams
And doubt hangs hopes,
What is Remarkably Possible if often considered improbable,
And Faith sits down in the shadows, her hands tied.
The slippery slope of lost Hope
Dashes Charisma against the rocks and shakes Vigor to the core;
Compressing Life to only what is seen, felt, heard.
Lost are the Whispers,
Lost are the Potent Promises that Move Mountains,
Lost are the Smiles of Satisfaction and Purpose.
Still, even in this dark place, where Angels wait, muted by skepticism;
When all is clouded o’re and dim,
One Word shall Lift the Indomitable Spirit,
One Affirmation will Raise the Irrepressible Soul;
Shattering cynicism, Collapsing disbelief,
And Building Bridges to the Unimagined.

The World Needs

     RESPECT…

The world needs…

Less of angry hatred,
More of souls kindred.

Less of endless strife,
More of boundless life.

Less of senseless war
More of doors left ajar.

Less of promises broken
More of hearts awoken.

Less of fallen trees
More of greener glees.

The world needs …
Warm hands…
and warmer hearts
The world needs
Broad minds
and broader thoughts.

The world needs
Each one of us.

The world needs . . .

People who see each other with eyes that are unbiased.

 The world needs . . .

People who listen to each other with hearts that are open.

The world needs . . .

People who speak to each other with words that are kind.

The world needs . . .

People who embrace each other with arms that are gentle.

The world needs . . .

People who are not afraid to hope for a better tomorrow.

The world needs . . .

People who can love and be loved in return.

The world needs . . .

People who are willing to do all these things TOGETHER.

The world needs nothing…. but a soul awakening,
All we need is bonding and strengthening.

We need to love each other and spread the message,
Let’s embrace Humanity and shun the ego baggage.

We have enough of everything in this world,
But Alas! Nobody is contented with what earned.

This is the time to make right choices,
Serve the needy, join hands and raise voices.

Reconnect with nature, serve the Nation,
Say yes to organic and no to imitation.

Yes to sustainability and no to destruction,
A promise for integrity and no corruption.

This world needs to be a better place for you and me,
Having no place for weapons, all very well for a spree.

Curb material-driven goals to make life hassle free,
Where spirit is high and soul will be free!!!

Courage and a cheerful smile,
Kind hearts that go the extra mile.

Beauty in the human heart
Reflected in our work and art

Vision to prize higher goals,
Love purity and long lost souls.

Minds that will meet you more than half,
A good old-fashioned belly laugh.

Hope when we hang on the edge of a funnel
Light at the end of the darkest tunnel

The helping hand to pull us out,
Forgive, restore, remove our doubt

Triumphal music of the spheres
To melt away the hurtful years

Courage to conquer Giant Despair
And reflect God’s goodness everywhere.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!!!

What do you think the world needs?

Just as before, you can add your contribution in the comment section of this poem,  & I will place them in the order they come. I will put your name (contributor)  at the end of the piece in the same color as your contribution and the names will be in the same order as well.  Happy writing!

Word Warrior Wednesday!

Oh my dear friends,

You, who are full of the most delicious words, who have the gift of story and poetry, who use these delectable creatures every day.  Give me your words!   I promise to use them wisely.  The groups I work with LOVE them!   boondoggle, bamboozle, thingamajigger, whatchamacallit, swagger, bouffant…which reminds me.  Below is a video which will trigger fun sound words right out of you!  (G rated- You need this version because the teens’ faces say it all!)

  – Bulbous Bouffant.

I use these words for my work in Poetry Therapy, a medium which assists others in healing.

You can read more about the “WHY”  here.

Please dear friends, give me YOUR words!   This will be fun.  ~ Marie  :0)

p.s.  The older the words, the better.  Some of my group members used to use these words all the time!  Makes for fascinating stories.

To LIVE Poetry – A Writing Challenge and a Poem

This weekend I wrote a quote (rewritten below).  My intention was to create

a more purposeful life.  If I LIVED poetry, what would that look like?

To live Poetry

Inhale the crisp brilliant air

filled with all things fiery and impassioned,

Nature, art, song, words

Pregnant with the seeds of

Love, peace,

possibility and hope

Inspiration oxygen

permeating my blood

and winding its way

through my physical body

deepening into the tissues

Of my soul.

Write it!

WRITING CHALLENGE:  Now, it’s your turn!  What would it look like if  YOU LIVED POETRY?

It can be a poem or an essay, a quote, or a few words are two.  How does it inspire you to look at life differently?

Just as in the past, I will post what you write and link it back to you.  I can’t wait to hear what you say, because I know your words are magic.  Don’t forget to tell your friends!

A Poem with a Taste Challenge

texas

Okay my friends…I was inspired by a poem I read yesterday that involved the tastes of a place.   And food brings about joyous memories with friends and families and those special people we love.  So, here’s my challenge:

Write a poem about the tastes of YOUR place…and then maybe include one of your favorite recipes…it can be from that place your wrote about, or one of your favorite recipes…I think it would be really cool to gather recipes of places from around the world….Then I can wake up and say things like, I’d like to travel to Austrailia today or Georgia, and pull a recipe out and be reminded of you!   Besides, my recipe box needs new tastes!   ENJOY!

JUST LEAVE YOUR LINK IN  YOUR COMMENTS SO WE CAN FIND YOU AND PING BACK HERE.  WE WON’T MAKE ONE LONG POEM ON THIS…IT WILL JUST BE LIKE A COOKBOOK AROUND THE WORLD.

Though I live in Idaho now…my strongest memories of taste are from Texas…

So, here’s my poem:

Random thoughts on the Flavors of Texas

I’ll tell you a

half dozen things about

the flavors of Texas.

The best bar-b-que ribs

and brisket you

ever did taste

because it’s grilled

in a brick fire pit

with Mesquite wood

and a homemade with a

vinegar/beer concoction.

Even Bill Miller’s

on a Texas corner can make

it almost like that.

Unlike Boise’s Dickey’s,

whose food tastes

cold and processed…

The sauce isn’t too bad though.

And Ahhhh…

the Mexican food

so close to the border

has its advantages.

Those Mexican mamas making masa.

Enchiladas made from real corn tortillas,

with joy from hands which love

to dish deliciousness and

make your tongue tingle with taste.

Now that’s Texas

a true taste corner.

And did I tell you

about Big Red,

bubble gum soda,

the flavor of childhood

and firemen’s picnics…

and Blue Bonnet icecream…

You can’t buy that here in Idaho,

a state

so lackluster in flavor.

Is it because the

borders are so far way?

or is it because I miss

The taste of home…

Even Idaho potatoes

tasted better in Texas

grilled with my daddy’s hand

for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Is it because my daddy

is a good cook?

Or do the potatoes

gain flavor

being trucked

all that distance?

I’m not dissing

on Idaho.

Perhaps, I’m just missing

the Flavors   of   Texas

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……….

HERE’s A LINK to KING RANCH CHICKEN so you can have your own taste of Texas.
