An Unlikely Love

I remember the first day I met you…
I didn’t like your kind.
You were sweet.
I was cautious.
Didn’t want to love you or even like you.
But you had your charm… your way of working into a heart with subtlety.

And here I am…
grateful for your patience your confidence
that I would fall in love with you…
I did.
Fifteen years later after finding you on the playground, I not only managed to love you,
but I learned to love your kind…
cats.
My dearest Recess…
you have given me hope for the world.

And I will continue in my
search for the gold.

Magical Miracle

image

How difficult that must have been for you to reach from the top of the sunflower all the way to the chair. So unlikely an event and yet here is your thread of life, your tight rope, that is proof that you took the leap, that you trusted, and you made it. If only all of us were as faithful and trusting as a spider.

I’m totally in awe how that spider made such an incredible distance with not much wind.  What a miracle I witnessed today…I’m thinking angels are speaking to me.

(Also, notice the dilemma of my once majestic sunflowers.)

Harvest moon verse

Love this…
Wonderful rhythm like a love ballad. Brilliant!

Peace, Love and Patchouli

Silhouettes of trees stand guard
Over dreams of nights lit by
A thousand fireflies rising
Crackling like a first fall fire
And the moon perched,
watching,
The scenes of acts played out
Of visions created in sleepless minds
And the body that often feels so tired
Moving through to touch
The earth
Gathering ashes to form
Castles of nothing.
I watch you come to me
Sweet moon on high you cast aside
Your robes of clouds
Naked for my eyes,
My thoughts to fantasize
Of similar nights
And words spoken
And those left unsaid.
I sleep beneath your eternal gaze
And wake to find the lavender pink
Filtered through a haze
Of this morning as she wakes
And I miss you in this moment
Yet know you shall return to find me waiting,
Spinning endless verse
On the beauty and gifts you bestow
To my heart and eternal soul
Left…

A Love Story – Aubade and Helianthus

Helianthus was but a shy seedling when they met

folded up and shut in

But Aubade was tender, patient and caressing

encouraging her to open up

And take in loving energy

She trusted.

He kissed her full on

and showed her loving ways

Her smitten heart fluttered

and soon she followed him

day in….day out

Emboldened to seek him in ways never sought before

for love’s intensity

Not a moment went by when she didn’t seek his light.

Never had she felt so much like a woman.

Standing tall

standing open

Hearts entwined

Souls entwined

The truth of the moment

explored and expressed

She whispered to him,

“I could stay forever in your arms

keep the world away and

your love in.”

They frolicked and danced

all their early days of summer

soaking their love in

In the Autumn of their lives,

Helianthus felt the distance of her lover

she saw him less and less as he sought

the promise of western skies

and new loves.

Then, only one was left in love.

When Aubade left,

her face continued ever seeking

until she could reach his light no more

her knees crumbled

and she fell face down to the ground

h e a r  t     b r o k e n.

Her tombstone read

“She had given all.”

And the earth wept

for her goodness was gone.

A love story of my fabulous sunflowers withering away because their sun has left them.

Throwback Thursday – I am a Writer

Writing Wings For You

20140816_161244_resized - Copy (2)

Sometimes, I need to remember:  I am a Writer.  This summer I got to LIVE and BREATHE writing, and it nourished my soul.  Yes, I remember soaking in the sunniness of it’s words and feeling it fill my body and created “I LIVE Poetry.”  Each day, I lived poetically with music and photography and art and just noticing…and my friends, I must say, I had never been happier.  I had to return to my job…which I love, but it IS a time sucker.   Soon I was in a whirlwind of meetings and have tos, instead of I want tos…and literally writing almost came to a screeching halt.  I pined for my artistic side to be fed…I remember noticing many things I wanted to sit and write about…but alas, my seat in the seat could not happen.  The best part was I understood it was temporary…

Last night, I got to…

My autumn smiles,

Fall on me,

More Coffee Talk – COFFEE KLATCH COLLABORATION ANYONE?

cofee-cuppa joe

COFFEE TALK

Coffee the elixir that soothes the soul
from wretched heartache
or morning out of control

No syrupy sweetness to mask the bold
No fancy flavors for me to hold
Just give me dark roastness
flavor can’t be beat
no icky bitter French
or taste of stinky feet

I’ll take a dash of cream
To rich the richness
Of aroma dreams

But more than this
I would gather up
a friend or two
to share a cup

We are both PERFECT in our IMPERFECTIONS

In response to More Cream in my Coffee over at Poetry Channel.

and If You and I Were Having Coffee with Writing Wings for you.

WE’VE GOT SOME COFFEE POEMS GOING ON.  WHAT DO YOU HAVE?

***The above photo is from an art piece from my textile workshop.  What I love about it is that it’s PERFECT in it’s IMPERFECTIONS just like me at Coffee Talk.

Open Letter to Little One

Letter to you little one,

You, who was conceived in the most blessed love of two people

You, who only knew love

You, whose spirit

will forevermore be cuddled

between mom and dad

You who left your kiss marks on mom’s belly

to remind her that

You are her spirit connection to God

so she may always know love.

You, guardian angel, are tiny

But oh so mighty

My friend suffered a great loss of a baby she waited so long to meet.

Her heart is beginning the journey to heal, and she began to write some. I pieced this poem together

from our written conversations.  Never has a little one been loved so much.

May these words heal another mom’s longing heart.
