If We Were Having Coffee

coffee cup

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have enjoyed every minute I’ve spent with you learning about your world, no matter where it may be.  Showing me what you see through your eyes and experiencing life through your lens is inspiring and curious to me.  Seeing your pictures of flowers and nature and people engaged in life nurtures my soul  Thank you for being you and being your contribution.  And then I’d ask, what will you do today to LIVE OUT LOUD?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I loved the movie “Begin Again.” And though I don’t care for senseless use of certain words, the story was full of poetic moments like the romantic relationship & even the breaking up and hardships because it was the human experience in all its glory..and it is romantic, and the music adds an element of magic because it is weaved so well into the story.  My husband, who isn’t usually a fan of music in movies or musicals, really liked the movie.  (Not just a little bit)  AND, he wanted to buy the soundtrack because Kiera Knightly did such a good job.  I think that’s another reason I like the movie because Kiera Knightly and Adam Levine both pursued other passions in their lives not knowing exactly how the world would accept their attempts…they just went for it.  Kiera’s voice is amazing, and the lilt is calming and dreamy.   If you don’t want to see the movie, you might like the soundtrack a lot. Spotify lets you get just the songs you want. :0)

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that though I have to go back to school in two weeks, and I will miss my summer terribly, for I do love my sunshine and my time to create and to just be. But that I’m always excited for new little discoveries with a new group of kids.  It never ceases to amaze me what beauty I will find and the delight in observing their curiosities and inquisitiveness.  (I wasn’t really sure that was a word but I didn’t get redlined.) And I would say that I am truly blessed to have this job.  AND it’s also a blessing to know such AMAZING teachers and collaborate with them.

If we were having coffee, I might ask you what books you’ve read lately.  I’ve read more this summer than usual, but the book I enjoyed the most was “The Light Between Two Oceans” because the characters were so well developed and I was engaged with them to the end.  It really mattered to me what happened to those characters. (Now, that’s a GREAT book!) Bonus:  I got to learn about lighthouses.

If we were having coffee, I would say that it’s really, really cool that I now get to add a coffee talk tab to my categories because I LOVE coffee and friends!

I got this idea from Suzie’s blog who got it from Nerd in the Brain‘s blog, who in turn saw it on the equally fabulous Part Time Monster‘s blog, who found it somewhere else.  As Suzie said so well, the blogging community inspires me!

IF WE WERE HAVING COFFEE, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL ME ABOUT?

Have a most blessed day,

Until we chat again, Marie

Bloom Where You are Planted

To my dearest friend Annie who inspired me and then to my beautiful sunflower who grew for me in a place left untended.  A gentle reminder to us all.

Gratitude and Peace and Newfound things

Today when I was walking in my house I went to pick up a piece of plastic that didn’t make it into the recycling.  I don’t know what it was the packaging for, but it had a piece of paper advertising stuck in it that said:

found art - celebrate today

perfect

And then my dear blogging friend Rhonda, had this special music that brought me such peace.  It deserves to be my meditation for awhile.  His name is   David Nevue.        Click HERE.  (The imagery is beautiful too.

And lastly, complete strangers with compassionate caring hearts dove in and shared their words, their encouragement and collective wisdom, and it was absolutely beautiful.

I am truly blessed on this first day of August.  Thanks for making the world a better place…and thanks for being you!

Texture Tuesdays – Cool Artwork (Wednesday)

20140729_203150_resized 20140729_203206_resized 20140729_203212_resized

My sister is an amazing texture artist.  I took this from a piece she gave me a couple of weeks ago.  She puts an incredible amount of hours (hundreds) into each piece.  Look how amazing the detail is!  I love FEELING texture…so sometimes I have to put the artwork somewhere I might not be apt to touch feely it all the time.  It took the picture from several angles so you could really see the depth of the texture.  You can click on each image to take a closer peak! I do not have this kind of diligence or patience.

It you’d like to see more of her artwork, it’s at http://www.ykacrylicartshop.com

And if you’d love more TEXTURE TUESDAY adventures, , be sure to pop on over and see what Narami and other TEXTURE COLLECTORS ARE FINDING!  (What a most beautiful world we are uncovering.)

I Live Poetry – Change of Perspective

I LIVE POETRY

Changing my perspective

By looking through  my windows

in a 5 in frame?

I can choose to focus on the distortion

Or the texture

Or the randomness

Or the order of lines

or the scarcity

Or the lush greenness all around

Choosing to see beauty in a land

Of chaos

Whether it’s inside or outside

My viewpoint and my attitude

is always a choice.

***This was a combination of challenges…whipped up some artistry here.   The top photograph was for Texture Tuesdays  w/Narami ( I love the shadows & light you can see).   You should try it out.  It’s fun looking for different textures. The other photographs were from Cee’s Lookin’ Through Windows.   Then I added my own poetic twist for  I LIVE POETRY.

As always, tell me how you LIVE POETRY!

Friday Flowers

My family has been teasing me because I’ve had such an obsession with flowers in the last few months.  I stop everywhere to take pictures!  I like taking lots of different angles.  These are just a few of my favorites from this week. (The Iris was a late bloomer.)  There are so many more pics I will have to share next Friday.  They bring so much beauty into our lives!     (For you Amy Rose – fellow flower freak…hee hee)

To Live Poetry – this week

marigolds spider web dew drops

To Live Poetry

See

Colors of blue, purple, green

And colors in between

Cerulean, Magenta, Seafoam

orange flower bursts

jeweled drops

on spider webs

To taste

Sweet creaminess of icecream

Spicy salsa chili

Contrast them

on my tongue

Hear

Drumbeats that start from

My heart and radiate

To my fingertips

Lilting music of your poetry

Touch

The pointiness of grass

Grooves in newly carved wood

A lover’s lips

On mine

Smell

Delicate flowers

New babies

The fragrance

Of ones I love.

These are just a few

Ways I’ve lived

Poetry this week.

Texture Tuesdays FUN!

texture        texture on a metal framed mirrortexas

I LOVE texture!  I’m a curious girl who is a kinesthetic learner. I like to touch everything!!!…consequently I also like to make everything a musical instrument because I feel rhythm all over.

This week my daughter took me with her to a business conference.  While she worked, I got to check out the hotel.  There were some great textures!  The first one is of some posts that framed an entrance to a restaurant.  They were in the shape of a vase and made of wood…it was carved!  And the second was a mirror that was framed in metal.  Very cool mirror.

And the last one is something my dad made for me for my 25th birthday to remind me of all the people who loved me in Texas.

Explore your world in new ways.  What do you find?
